Willkommen auf den Seiten des Auswärtigen Amts
Ambassador Anne Wagner-Mitchell
Dear visitors,
a very warm welcome to the website of the German Embassy in Lusaka! I am very glad that you found your way to visit us virtually.
Germany is a country rich in history and culture, with great scenery and open-minded inhabitants. It is also a country renowned for its top achievements in science and technology and for the quality of its products with the trademark “made in Germany”. Our foreign policy centers on peace, security stability, European integration and human rights.
We invite you to take a look at this website and find out more about our country in the heart of Europe.
This website offers information about many aspects of the good and friendly relations between Germany and Zambia. Development cooperation is a particularly important aspect of our relations. Zambian-German development cooperation encompasses 60 years of commitment of the German government to the people of Zambia. Since 1964, when Zambia gained its independence, the German government has made available over 1 billion Euro of direct bilateral assistance. There are another combined 700 million Euro of indirect multilateral contributions to programs of the European Commission, the World Bank, the Africa Development Bank and the United Nations Organizations in Zambia.
The Zambian and the German governments have agreed to concentrate their efforts in development cooperation on the two priority areas “Water and Sanitation” and “Good Governance” embracing “Decentralization” and “Civil Society Participation”. Renewable energy, agriculture and wildlife protection are other sectors of our engagement.
I hope that you will find useful information on this website about Germany and about our relations with Zambia in politics, economics, development cooperation, culture as well as the work and services my Embassy can offer to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us for questions, comments and suggestions.
Best regards,
Anne Wagner-Mitchell
German Ambassador to Zambia and Special Representative to COMESA
